The South Korean tech giant Samsung officially sponsors Texas’ Envy Gaming teams for Overwatch, Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, and other professional leagues.
The local Texas eSport organization, Envy Gaming, took it to Twitter over the weekend to announce its newest partner, Samsung, with a short video featuring competitive online games such as Overwatch and CS:GO.
The new partnership announcement came with an official slogan saying, “Always Gaming. Always Texas.”
Reportedly, Samsung is “heavily invested” in Texas, as the tech giant operates the US$17 billion manufacturing plant for Samsung Austin Semiconductor in that state, wherein it also employs over 10,000 locals.
Envy x Samsung partnership deal
The sponsorship from the South Korean electronics conglomerate includes Dallas Fuel, the Envy Gaming Overwatch pro league, and Team Envy.
Accordingly, Team Envy consists of players that professionally compete in CS: GO, Fortnite, Rocket League, and Magic: The Gathering leagues. With Samsung becoming its newest partner along with CORSAIR, Jack in the Box, Jack Link’s Jery, Greyhound, and Acer Predator.

Unfortunately, the deal does not include the Dallas Empire—Envy’s Call of Duty pro league.
Instead, Samsung focused more on sponsoring Envy’s Overwatch franchise, which includes the three-week Lone Star Challenge, which features Dallas Fuel and Beasley Media Group’s Houston Outlaws Overwatch showdown battles.
Reports weigh in Samsung’s decision to further locally invest in Texas, considering the state will now gradually reopen its economy amid the pandemic.
Other Envy Gaming news
Apparently, Samsung wasn’t the first big contract this year for the Texan eSports organization. Envy Gaming’s Dallas Fuel also signed Frontier Communications, which is the internet provider for 29 states in the U.S., as a presenting sponsor for the 2020 Overwatch League season in February.
According to Envy’s official press release:
As part of the deal, Frontier Communications has been named the preferred Internet service provider of Envy Gaming and its esports teams including the Dallas Empire, Dallas Fuel and Team Envy.
Meanwhile, the Lone Star Challenge Docuseries is set to air its second episode this Saturday, May 16, from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m. CST.
The last episode of this three-week Texas eSports event, on the other hand, will air on May 23, with the same time slot.

The said event is reportedly a Texan showdown between Dallas and Houston on determining “who are the best eSports players in Texas” and which team is the top Overwatch pro league in the state.
The Samsung-sponsored broadcast is also aired statewide on local channels including, ABC’s WFAA8 and KVUE, for Dallas and Austin respectively, and KHOU 11 for Houston.
