This is Us is once again returning to NBC for season 5. The series is yet to unfold bitter challenges and new beginnings.
This is Us is an American emotional drama series that follows the lives of the Pearson family. The unique triplets, Kevin, Kate, and Randall go through life’s struggles with the support of their wonderful parents.
All throughout the four seasons of the series, the Pearson family stayed strong together in moments of love, heartbreaks, and personal struggles. Now on its fifth season, This is Us is yet to unfold the family’s bond to create deeper meaning in life.
This is Us season 5 plot
This is Us season 4 finale revealed a heavy confrontation between siblings, Kevin(Justin Hartley) and Randall (Sterling K. Brown). Kevin discovered that Randall pushed their mother, Rebecca(Mandy Moore) to enroll in an Alzheimer’s clinical trial at Washington University.
However, Rebecca may have sided with Randall since, in season 5, Rebecca will be traveling with Miguel midwest.

Creator, Dan Fogelman hints several directions for the This is Us season 5 plot. For instance, the 40th birthday of the triplets will reveal who Kevin’s fiancee is. Season 4 detailed the two important love stories of Kevin.
Madison (Caitlin Thompson) told Kevin in the Season 4 finale she is carrying his twins. On the other hand, the finale also revealed through flashbacks Kevin’s ex-wife, Sophie (Alexandra Breckenridge), and one-time lover Cassidy (Jennifer Morrison).

Fogelman added,
“I think there’s many more chapters in Kevin’s romantic story… Kevin has a journey ahead of him and I don’t want to get too far ahead of it just yet.”
Fogelman also mentioned that This is Us season 5 will focus on rebirths and new beginnings. However, next season reveals Kate’s dark past. Chrissy Metz who plays Kate Pearson talked about her dark past,
“We’re going to find out even more in-depth next season as to why she’s decided to, not necessarily use food, but use a substance — hers being food — because she’s been through some things that we haven’t, we don’t know yet.”
Furthermore, Fogelman also hints on Rebecca and Miguel’s journey to St. Louis, Missouri. Recca decided to take a nine-month clinical trial hoping to slow down the onset of Alzheimer’s.
It appears that This is Us Season 5 will features Rebecca as a dying woman. Moreover, Fogelman asserted that Mandy Moore’s character will have more diversities.
“It’s going to be, obviously, a challenging chapter for Rebecca moving forward. “We have a big storyline planned for Mandy next season in present day as an older woman and also her whole past timelines.”
