While everyone’s anticipating the impending release of the Poco F2 Pro, another Poco smartphone could soon be surprise-released by Xiaomi’s former subsidiary.

A mysterious Poco entry

Called the Poco M2 Pro, POCO’s forthcoming phone has popped up briefly on Xiaomi’s official Indian site, in which details of its SAR testing have also been revealed.

The alleged Poco M2 Pro, which sports a model number M2003J6CI, is codenamed “gram.” Interestingly, it is also tipped that the accompanying name has already been hiding in plain sight and that Xiaomi could be working on it for some time.

For instance, there is already a firmware ready for the phone. Additionally, the device could have already debuted in a kernel source code for the Redmi Note 9 Pro, alongside a watermark in the default camera app.

The phone has since been removed from the site.

Another Redmi Note 9 Pro?

Nevertheless, its removal on the site only sparked what appears to be the POCO fans’ growing curiosity on the mysterious smartphone.

POCO enthusiasts online are almost certain that the Redmi Note 9 Pro and the Poco M2 Pro could be “closely related.” They could also end up sharing some hardware specifications, which might include the chipset. The Redmi Note 9 Pro features Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 720G chipset at the time of its launch.

In April 2020, the Redmi Note 9 Pro was globally announced. It features a 6.67-inch IPS LCD display, with a resolution of 1,080 x 2,400 pixels. The phone’s screen also boasts Corning Gorilla Glass 5.

Apart from the Snapdragon 720G powering the device, the phone is also coupled with 6GB of RAM and 64GB/128GB of UFS 2.1 internal storage. The handset also works on a massive 5,000mAh battery, with support for 30W fast wired charging.

The highlights of the Redmi Note 9 Pro are easily its camera offerings. On its rear panel, the phone packs a quadruple-camera setup. The system comprises a large 64MP wide primary camera, an 8MP ultrawide sensor, a 5MP macro camera, and a 2MP depth sensor. The handset also employs a 16MP wide sensor inside its display punch-hole, which is placed at the top-center of the screen.

Other key features of the phone include side-mounted fingerprint reader, NFC, Bluetooth 5.0, and 3.5mm headphone jack. The phone runs on MIUI 11, based on the latest Android 10.

Although the Poco M2 Pro’s vital specs are still up in the air at this point, the phone might very well launch in 2020 after the Poco F2 Pro.
