Peter Fabiano, the producer behind Resident Evil 3 Remake has dropped a bombshell to fans expecting an expanded content to the game—no such project is in the works.
The information was extracted from an exclusive interview with the producer by Siliconera.
The notion came after questioning Fabiano whether or not the game is a ‘finished product,’ which he confirmed as such. Essentially, validating that no expanded story DLC is to expect of the game.
Resident Evil 3 Remake’s Doomed Fate
As the hope of eventually seeing Resident Evil 3 Remake getting it right is officially shattered, more revelations came from the said interview. Specifically, the discourse shed more light on the game’s reception and the mindset behind the remake’s outcome.
Surprisingly enough, Fabiano’s response to the interview has been generally positive. Even apparently undermining what would otherwise be a failure out of the project than success. Not in terms of sales, at least, but of general public reception.
Seemingly a bluff, but part the optimism boils down in the context of how the developers want to make the game from the beginning. A belief of which that does not see eye-to-eye with most audiences, not even the fans of the series.
If anything, the statement only makes as a final nail in the coffin for the remake. One that did not see positive reception arising from the grossly short campaign. A fault that not even Resident Evil Resistance, the multiplayer aspect of the game, could make up for as additional content.
Much also to everyone’s dismay, considering the success of Resident Evil 2 Remake that precedes it and shares similar mechanics with. To say that there hadn’t been anticipation of seeing a similar quality as RE2R with RE3R would have been an outright lie.
Different Team, Different Games
However, contrary to the knowledge of some, there were two different teams behind RE2R and RE3R. The latter even being three years in the making—typically the average time it takes to create a triple-A title.
Adding more to the surprise, perhaps, is the fact that RE3R’s creation came in part with the active involvement of the original team. The idea will not necessarily invalidate all probable misconceived notions about the team behind the game. But there’s at least the confidence that there are indeed the veterans mixed in the roster.
With the producer having spoken, Resident Evil 3 Remake’s single-player campaign is nothing but officially ended. Meantime, players can continue playing Resident Evil Resistance for its still slated future content updates.
